We are currently recruiting for a Joint Venture Accountant to join our Chiltern team based in our St Albans office.
The JV Accountant role is a senior position which has exposure to the external boards, requiring liaison with all Business Unit Directors. The JV Accountant will provide accounting services, controlling the day to day financial reporting for the Residential and Non – Residential Joint Ventures for the Chiltern Division.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain forecasts for JV’s as agreed with the Finance Director.
- Full accountability for day to day and month end reporting for JV’s.
- Review and input to business plans ensuring forecasts and actuals are recorded correctly.
- Adherence to the Group Accounting Policy Manual and understanding differences between external / internal reporting for the group.
- Reconciliation of JV information between the forecasting system (Anaplan) and the ledgers (Agresso/ Coins).
- Invoice and maintain parent accounting for all management fees and shared costs.
- Ensuring that Balance Sheet is reconciled monthly and any risks highlighted to the Finance Director/ Controller.
- For the JV and related entities prepare and present monthly mgt accounts / forecasts along with half-year and full-year statutory reporting packs.
- Prepare any required statutory accounts as necessary and liaise with external auditors as required.
- Preparation of the JV financial papers for the Quarterly Board Pack
- Assist in preparation of JV Board Papers to the required timescales.
- Attendance at Board meetings as required by the Finance Director.
- Arrange WIP reimbursement back to the development partner and arrange the partner funding & cash distributions when required
- Provide general and ad-hoc tasks as required by the Finance Controller during the month.
Key skills and experience required for this role:
- Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA preferred or qualified by existing JV experience.
- Housebuilding experience essential.
- Highly IT literate (Anaplan, Coins, Cognos, excel)
- Good communication skills.
- Adherence to deadlines, and the ability to work under the pressure of month end and year end deadlines.
- Excellent problem solving and investigative approach to Financial Management.
- Attention to detail and strong financial control skills
- Confident, strong character with the ability to lead others.
- Highly motivated, positive outlook and able to build excellent working relationships.
- Thrives in working to tight deadlines.
